The rapid advent of LED lighting has led to great creative opportunities for lighting solutions. On a family room we had selected a beautiful but extremely expensive linear LED fixture. We ended up replacing the fixture with a LED bulb that was designed to be an energy efficient replacement for a standard 4-foot florescent tube bulb. Instead of installing it in a fixture, we just got 2 metal clips and a wire that plugged into the end of the bulb. The total cost was the bulb plus 79 cents for the wire and clip. It had exactly the minimal look we were looking for. 1) The retrofit LED bulbs. Many options - but important specifications are: a) Dim-able, b) CRI value, c) Color temperature, d) Single ended power connection. I picked: Neptun Light LED-88026-120V-ADIM 26 Watt 26W 48" 4 FT T8 LED Dimmable Tube Glare Free Meso Lens 120V - 5 Year WarrantyColor Temperature5 x 3500 K - Warm WhiteWiring5 x Single EndedLED-88026-120V-ADIM-835-1P brought from https://www.ShineRetrofits.com 2) The attachment/ wire. This is the wire and the clip which holds it to the wall. 79 cents each! Bought from dem https://www.demasled.us/t8-holder BTW - The original light was a very nice Birchwood fixture, that cost $600 each vs the less than $60 of our retrofit tube alternative. |
